April
2013- October 2013
Using INOBLOX NetMRI configuration management tool, I was tasked with
advanced network analysis by identifying common issues that may be occurring
within the network which impede performance/failover for the
customer. I was expected to cover the setup issues list and
identify approximate 22 issues. The methodology will ensure the use of
the data in the NOC and actively address problems before they impact our
customers. My duty is to come up with a more accurate view create assessment
of the rest to ensure we've filtered out any white noise. Our
Production Assurance team developed a process known as the H.A. Resiliency
effort. This is an ongoing scan of many infrastructure components in
environments that should be providing high availability to applications based
on infrastructure redundancy and failover convergence. From a network
perspective, there were different High Availability environments (and
devices). Within each of those environments, we scan a few dozen things
that are most critical to providing high availability based on a variety of
potential network or server failure scenarios. Most of the high risk
and medium risk issues have been corrected, but we have many low risk items
that need analyzed and corrected. We
were approaching the back end of much of the 6500 product lifecycle which
were predominantly have 6500s providing access layer connectivity to
all the network closets in the downtown campus. It is assumes that we
will be hitting critical EoX milestones on a variety of the components in the
chassis. My goal was to get in front of this problem and come up with a
multi-year resource and cost strategy for refresh. I was tasked with
working with Cisco to assess the 6500s (and components) we have in the
Columbus Campus and come up with a projection of critical EoX dates and
refresh strategy. Create
cisco VLAN configuration change templates for each store and submit for QC
for approval. Use ICMP protocols to run various tests for connectivity
and health status. Implement assigned stores in rollout schedule, logging
into the router backing up the current running config and applying new
changes. Validate changes using ICMP protocols ensuring connectivity and VLAN
mapping. Validate all changes with show commands and network
connectivity. Use a cad application to map out all access points,
pointing out various db measurements around store floor, reboot access points
and verify VLAN mapping and HREAP for proper native VLAN configuration.
Perform access point and wireless site surveys. Update circuit IDs and
DMARC information in master circuit documentation. Verify and
decommission 2800 series cisco routers by wiping running configs and flash
memory. Troubleshoot production cisco routers with network connectivity
